Spoken Word

Due to the popularity of LSB's improvisational spoken-word performance of 'The Lorax' and 'A Great Day for Up' at Beantower's Clown Lounge in Omaha, Nebraska, the band has laid out tentative plans for a similar performance of Joyce's 'Finnegan's Wake' for a weekend in late March. Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley, Craig Finn of The Hold Steady and Mumia Abu-Jamal have all expressed interest in performing. The venue has yet to be confirmed.

i was sent here to Sborg, Bjerniner, Sweden to see what, if any, of an LSB scene there may be. while the set is rockin' and the kids ready for the live feed from knashville, the keyboard on this cafe pc is almost nearing complete undicernability.

posting on the blog dude

Salamander played at Ziggy's last night. Not too many people came, but the band was loud and they turned on those giant heaters like they did that time Fountainhead opened up for the Chickie Dregs. We are a three piece now that we dont use a singer anymore, or a rhythm guitarist. We made beer money though and the crowd was nice enough to let us encore with "Steamy," the Black Oak Arkansas workhorse.
I saw Frankolin there and the remains of Michelle. You remember Michelle-- the big butt woman in a bigass tankini...

amsterdam

girl: ”… you know, I always think of them as people who look after themselves really well.”
client: “mmm”
girl: “Like in Amsterdam. You see a lot of goodlooking people in Amsterdam.”
client: “Yeah, you do.”
girl: “I guess in cities a lot of people are pre-occupied with their appearance.”
client: “uhuh”
girl: “People in Holland are better looking than in other countries. I mean, look at England.”
client: “oh please… English people are ugly.”
girl: “Yeah. And Belgians aren’t pretty either.”
client: “mmm”
girl: “Germans… no, Germans aren’t pretty. The Dutch are the best looking.”
client: “So you fancy Dutchmen then?”
girl: // giggles // “Yeah… blond hair, blue eyes. You too?”
client: “Yeah. And tall.”
girl: “Yeah, tall… so… what far away places have you been to then?”
client: “Oh… um, South America…”
girl: “Wow.”
client: ”… on the one side, and on the other side… The Philippines.”
girl: “WOW!”
client: “And, you know, other places…”
girl: “And, um, if you don’t mind me asking… where are the Philippines? Um… I’m not really good at this stuff.”

Me: ”???”

show review Five Spot

I saw the show last night while simultaneously listening to the baseball game. Node was on fire, man.

I used a nagra mini-reel to record the show, only to find out that there was a radio broadcast going out.

"Physkos" was shuddering. I think they teased the Allman's "Revival" during the last piece.

tuning aids?

Can somebody out there help me tune my chapman stick? I've been using banjo strings and now I think I'm an octave short of a combo plate, if you know what I mean.

I'd be glad to trade from some wiccan cooking lessons if any of you LSB heads out there can figure this one out.

Let's Say.....

I for one felt very cheated when trash was invented. I mean, isnt it already there, nascent, ready to be born, like a river mouth in summer?
Baltimore was once a place of RADICAL POTENTIAL and now, the lumpy swells of your neighborhood may well be home turf for the dispossesed. Dispossesed garbage, I mean.

Isn't it time we recognized things for what they are?
